Blogs for your kitchen

Most my posts here are about stuff for the kitchen, from toasters to what music to play in the ktchen.

But it’s not all about chilling out with some cans of lager – at some point someone’s going to have to assemble a plate of food. So here are a couple of blogs that I read, and often wish that the bloggers would come round to Pedro’s kitchen and do a guest spot at the hotplates.

Tess’s Japanese kitchen is a great read, all those pictures of Japanese food – nice work.

The English Can Cook is an interesting one. The blog author Ms Marmite Lover has turned her kitchen into a small catering and media  industry, with a lot of ingenuity and imagination, she’s changing the world with guerrilla restauranting, or whatever it’s called. Have a read.

Microwaves Are Ace

Don’t let anyone fool you into thinking that the microwave is the poor relation to other cooking methods, cos it just ain’t true. Microwaves are used in a lot of the world’s top kitchens for many culinary uses.

In your kitchen you need to use your microwave to its fullest – it’s the most environmentally friendly way to heat up food. Sticking curry in the oven uses loads more energy than a blast of good old microwaves.

The microwave is also great for heating up yesterday’s coffee, doing potatoes, custard, whatever you like. And popcorn of course. Let’s not forget the popcorn. It can even be used to disinfect sponges, or so they say. Just remember to waterlog them first.

It’s convenient, it’s environmental, it’s economical – all hail the microwave.
